Bio Blurb

Monica Stephens (Ph.D., University of Arizona, 2012) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Durham University (UK). She has previously held faculty positions at the University at Buffalo (SUNY) and Humboldt State University. She currently resides in both Buffalo, NY USA and Newcastle, England. Her research examines data from social media to understand how (mis)information, incivility and exclusion are geographically distributed. Her work has appeared in popular outlets including Wired, The Guardian, and BBC World Service.
